How to connect your heart rate device

HeartShare reads any device that broadcasts heart rate over Bluetooth Low Energy. In most cases you only need to switch broadcasting on — don't pair the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings, the app finds it by itself.

Covers Apple Watch · Garmin watches · Garmin, Coospo, Moofit, Polar, Wahoo & other straps · Whoop · Xiaomi Mi Band 10

Before you start: wear the device so the sensor sits snug against your skin, make sure Bluetooth is on for your phone, and keep the device within a few metres. HeartShare scans automatically when you open the connection screen.

Apple Watch

Use the HeartShare watch app — it streams your pulse straight to your iPhone session.

Garmin watch

Garmin watches broadcast heart rate over Bluetooth LE once you enable it in the watch menu.

Menu → Health & Wellness → Heart Rate → Broadcast Heart Rate. Leave the broadcast screen open while you train.

Garmin HR strap & others

Coospo, Moofit, Polar, Wahoo and most other BLE chest straps and armbands work the same way.

Device not showing up?

  • Unpair it from your phone's Bluetooth settings. A device already connected to the OS can't broadcast to the app.
  • Check broadcasting is still on. Most watches stop broadcasting when the screen or the broadcast view is closed.
  • Close other apps using the sensor — training apps hold an exclusive connection to the strap.
  • Restart the device and moisten the strap contacts; dry electrodes give no signal.

Do I need to pair my chest strap in Bluetooth settings?

No. Do not pair the strap in your phone's Bluetooth settings — HeartShare discovers broadcasting devices automatically. A device already connected to the operating system cannot broadcast to the app.
